The Big Weekend is the first in a series of campaigns planned by Visit Herts to strengthen Hertfordshire’s tourism offer as part of the new Destination Management Service for the county.
Big Weekend ballot opens
Hundreds of FREE tickets now available to Hertfordshire residents
The ballot for Hertfordshire’s first ever Big Weekend, which gives away thousands of FREE tickets to the county's tourism attractions, is now open.
Organised by Hertfordshire’s new tourism service Visit Herts, the Herts Big Weekend takes place on 12th and 13th March and is designed to encourage residents to rediscover the amazing things to see and do in their home county - and to spread the word about them.
Hertfordshire residents can bid for available tickets to as many attractions as they wish until 16th February. Two tickets per household will then be allocated (some family tickets will be available as well).
The county's new tourism service is due to go live as part of English Tourism Week celebrations next March.
Visit Herts is the interim name for the service which was awarded to destination management specialists Go To Places on a two-year contract earlier this year. It was awarded by Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Hertfordshire County Council.
Hertfordshire LEP Executive Director Neil Hayes said:
“The Big Weekend is a fantastic way to highlight the wealth of local attractions we have and to reinforce the message that this county is a great place not just to live, work and do business but also to visit.”
