Hertfordshire allocation

We are responsible for setting the strategic direction and priorities of Hertfordshire's European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).

We have been allocated around £50m from ESIF for investment into Hertfordshire projects from 2015 onwards.

ESIF is designed to improve economic growth, business competitiveness and employment opportunities and social well-being across Member States of the EU. The ESIF allocation for the UK for the period 2014-2020 is nearly €6.2bn. This amount covers three funding programmes: the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF); European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

Funding priorities

These are:

  • Innovation and research and development

  • Support for small and medium-sized businesses

  • Low carbon

  • Skills, employment and social inclusion

The Herts LEP Area ESIF Committee is responsible for the development and delivery of the Hertfordshire ESIF strategy and comprises representatives from local authorities, stakeholders and partnership organisations including Skills Funding Agency, Big Lottery and JCP.
