Growth Area Forums
Our Growth Deal focuses on three Growth Areas which have been defined spatially around Hertfordshire’s principal road and rail corridors. These are:
M1/M25 – including Hemel Hempstead, Watford and St Albans
A1(M) – including Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hitchin and Letchworth Garden City
A10/M11 – including Bishop’s Stortford, Hertford, Broxbourne and Stansted Airport
This is based around these three areas with significant potential for economic growth. As part of our Growth Deal with Government we have established three Growth Area Forums across the LEP area to help shape the major strategic and investment priorities facing each corridor and accelerate economic growth.
We are engaging with businesses, local authorities and other partners in each of these Growth Area Forums to identify priorities including strategic development sites and gaps in infrastructure provision that will be championed by the LEP to unlock private sector investment and job creation.
Our focus for these Growth Area Forums stretches wider than Hertfordshire's borders. We will work with other LEPs and neighbouring counties on issues of regional and national significance such as Crossrail 2, HS2 and help to inform the debate on managing London and the South East's future growth.
We will be using the feedback from each forum to help determine our future funding commitments in each of these areas. Task and finish groups will then be set up to help progress these outcomes.
