Development to Hertford Regional College’s Ware campus is on track for September 2015. The £10.5m investment will establish the site as the Creative & Enterprise Campus.

The investment is in response to significant industry growth; with the creative economy growing at four times the rate of the national economy and the value of the UK’s creative industries exports standing over £15 billion per year.
The creative industries has been identified as a key sector for economic growth in the county as evidenced in our Strategic Economic Plan.

The new building will be home to the departments of Creative Arts and Industries, Business and Computing. This will enable joint delivery of courses such as games development, web development and animation.

Students will be provided with state-of-the-art facilities to meet industry needs of the future. Studios and workshops will support business-focused creative arts courses, with space to encourage entrepreneurship.

Hertfordshire hailed artist David Gentleman, whose most publically recognised works include the Charing Cross Tube mural and the National Trust logo, has agreed to put his name to the gallery. The David Gentleman gallery will be open to the public for exhibitions and will bring together students, businesses and the community.

To further support students in this growth industry Hertford Regional College is now a member of the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills. This will give students additional opportunities for visits, guests speakers and live-briefs. One of the first briefs students can get involved in is from The National Theatre who would like them to create an original; set, costume, lighting, or sound or projection design concept for a scene from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.
