University of Hertfordshire shortlisted in National Enterprise Awards

The University of Hertfordshire has been shortlisted for three awards at the National Enterprise Educator Awards (NEEA).

Jointly ran by the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education (NCEE) and Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK), the fourth annual NEEA awards recognises and celebrates those who have demonstrated an exceptional and inspirational commitment to supporting student and graduate entrepreneurship in further and higher education in the UK.

The University is the only institution to be nominated three times, acknowledging staff, student teams and individuals for their excellence in enterprise education.

Tonia Harvey, Head of Entrepreneurial Development at the University of Hertfordshire, said: "We are really pleased to be shortlisted for these prestigious awards. We are proud to be able to support our staff and students to ensure that the University of Hertfordshire remains at the forefront of enterprise nationally."

The University shortlist consisting of Team Venture, led by staff, creates entrepreneurial teams with matchmaking technology, has been shortlisted in the Enterprise Educators category for transforming the enterprise curriculum. Herts Entrepreneurs, a student led enterprise society has been shortlisted in the Student Educators category for supporting peer learning and development. Finally, the Enterprise Team led by Julie Newlan, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Director of Marketing and Communications, have been nominated for supporting, growing and engaging their student enterprise societies in the Enterprise Society Champions category.

The Enterprise Educators category is sponsored by The Higher Education Academy, the Student Educators category is sponsored by Peter Jones Enterprise Academy & Pearson Herts Entrepreneurs and the Enterprise Society Champions category is sponsored by NACUE.

The University along with the other shortlisted applicants will attend the NEEA Ceremony, which is being hosted by the Gala Dinner at the International Entrepreneurship Educators Conference (IEEC) on Thursday 13 September at the Plymouth Hoe. From the shortlist, the highly commended and winners from all four of the award categories will be announced where each of the winners will receive a glass trophy passed on by the 2011 winners, and £1000 to invest in their projects or fund further developments at their institutions.
