Details

Our rooms, including the Green Suite, are large, bright and beautiful with Georgian-style decor and adjoining bathrooms. There are stunning views of the Cathedral and Abbey Gateway. Rooms have desks, internet connection and colour TV with free view channels. Also, leafy plants, comfy armchairs, tea and filter coffee making facilities and fruit or chocolate upon arrival. Parking vouchers are available.

Central London is thirty minutes away after a fifteen minute walk to the station. St. Albans, too, has organised and cultural events, two theatres and a golf course. An information folder is in your room.

Step outside, turn left into historic George Street and you’re in the dynamic city centre complete with fine restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs. Or, go up the steps opposite our Georgian fronted house, where the martyr George Tankerfield was burned at the stake in 1555, and you’re at the Abbey.

Or, go for a jog before your royal breakfast, through the Abbey Orchard, past the Fighting Cocks pub and into Verulamium Park with its lake, wildfowl, trees, grassy expanses, Roman ruins and museums. Turn right and you’re in historic Fishpool Street, very fashionable today but once the poor area and red light district.

Tankerfield House, that saw armies from the War of the Roses march past, became a nineteenth-century hat making factory, as part of the local cottage industry. Today, it’s all luxury and a suit of armour in the breakfast room. Accompanying your cooked breakfast are self -service items from the Guests’ Pantry. Welcome!
