Chris Ellis is the latest addition to the Growth Hub team. Here Chris explains why SMEs can feel confident in the free sales and marketing expertise he can provide.
"I’ve spent the last 10 years running my own consultancy, so I have no trouble putting myself in the shoes of SMEs and understanding the pressures of delivering products and services – and the perils of getting lost working in the business, rather than on the business.
"Having said that (in the decade before), I’ve also run accounts in agencies looking after some of the biggest companies in the UK, global brands and leading institutions. I have worked across many sectors but I have a substantial track record in technology, financial services and FMCG (fast moving consumer goods such as food and toiletries).
"Above all, I’m very approachable! I think it’s important that growing SMEs feel both confident in the expertise on offer and that the Hub is not just recycling off-the-shelf solutions; instead we provide expert, practical advice shaped to individual circumstances. I’ve made a career out of offering best advice and 'doing the right thing'.
"As a team, we want to engage with ambitious businesses who have found their feet but are perhaps not yet capitalising on all opportunities. For businesses to grow they need a sales and marketing plan and a budgeted set of actions – along with a good understanding of the skills, resources and technological developments needed to meet the challenges. And, on occasion, a bit of working capital to make it happen.
