Hertfordshire MPs have welcomed the LEPs’ success in securing £200m of government investment in the county by 2020/21 – with £21m of funding confirmed for 2015/16. The funding will help to deliver 16,000 additional homes, around 13,000 new jobs and provide a real boost to the county’s infrastructure, businesses and skills.

Commenting on the signing of the Growth Deal, a number of Hertfordshire MPs congratulated the LEP in securing the investment from Government.

Grant Shapps, MP for Welwyn Hatfield, said: “The LEP has done a great job in securing funding across the county. Investment in housing and transport, as well as support for our growing businesses are essential to Welwyn Hatfield's economic success".

David Gauke, MP for South West Hertfordshire, said: "This funding will provide tremendous benefits to the county’s economy. I am particularly pleased to see investment in Croxley Rail Link which will deliver significant spill-over benefits to Rickmansworth and the surrounding area”.

Charles Walker, MP for Broxbourne, said: “This funding will have a real impact on Broxbourne’s economy. Broxbourne Enterprise Centre will be the first of its kind in the area and will ensure that our growing businesses have the space they need to thrive".

Richard Harrington, MP for Watford, said: "I have been working hard with the LEP in recent months to ensure that Watford was a top priority within this bid, as it should be. I made the case for Watford very clear to the Government, and indeed wider elements of the bid for Hertfordshire, and am delighted that this will now move forward. Croxley Rail Link will significantly open up our town especially for residents of West Watford, and access to key sites including our Hospital, Football Club and Business Parks.”

Mark Prisk, MP for Hertford and Stortford, said: “This Growth Deal will deliver substantial benefits to Bishops Stortford. The area’s connectivity with London will receive a welcome boost through investment in our roads and M11 and A10 and station access improvements along the Liverpool Street – Cambridge railway line”.

Oliver Heald, MP for North East Hertfordshire, said: "The LEP's investment in this area will significantly boost our economic competitiveness".

The LEP will continue to work closely with constituency MPs from across the county in the coming months as it implements its economic plan.
