Hertfordshire businesses with less than 1,000 employees have until the end of this year to take advantage of a £1,500 grant if they take on an apprentice.

The incentive is available to companies with between 50-999 employees who have not taken on a young person aged 16-24 in the last year. As of January 2015, the grant will only be available to small enterprises with less than 50 employees.

A growing number of Hertfordshire businesses now offer apprenticeships, with 2,431 people being taken on from August 2013 to January 2014.

Up to 96 per cent of businesses nationwide say their organisations have benefited from apprenticeships, and feedback locally is overwhelmingly positive.
