Apprentices Get In. Go Far

We are delighted to support an innovative programme of free professional development opportunities for schools.

A series of employer visits have been set up to help support Hertfordshire's teachers with the aim of bringing the vocational curriculum alive. The visits to some of the county's largest apprenticeship employers will enable you to develop a programme that can lead to a wide variety of high quality vocational opportunities for your students and meet the needs of local businesses.

Daniel Rees, a PE teacher at St George’s School, Harpenden, recently took part in a visit to engineering giant AECOM's St Albans office.

He said: “The visit here has been great, a really good eye opener into what apprenticeships are available and what AECOM has to offer. I would definitely recommend this to colleagues; listening to employers about what they are looking for is a powerful message to feed back to students."

Employers from a wide range of sectors have signed up including:

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden

Weldability Sif

Freedom Communications

FS Cables

Johnson Matthey

The visits are aimed at vocational curriculum subject leaders, curriculum managers, Year 11 Heads and staff involved in delivering to Sixth Form Students.
