WestAngliaTaskforcePressRelease

The West Anglia Taskforce comprises organisations from the public and private sectors along the whole corridor between London, Stansted and Cambridge. It was established by the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Mayor of London in February 2015 to examine the case for upgraded rail infrastructure on the West Anglia Main Line.

The Hertfordshire LEP has been working closely with the West Anglia Taskforce because of the recognised economic benefits which would accompany investment to improve this rail route.

Councillor Linda Haysey, Leader of East Hertfordshire District Council and Herts LEP Board Member, said: "We are actively looking at how the economic value related to the huge levels of growth projected in this rail corridor can be captured to support this investment. For example, “Greater Harlow” [which includes areas in East Hertfordshire] is developing plans to deliver 51,000 new homes, and we need the infrastructure to support this level of growth."
