Supporting key infrastructure projects

Hertfordshire LEP was allocated £16m Growing Places Fund in 2012 to support key infrastructure projects designed to create new jobs, commercial space and homes.

The revolving loan scheme has been used to unlock developments and kick-start stalled projects throughout the County.

The Hertfordshire Growing Places Fund has been invested in Watford Business Park and Health Campus which will deliver an additional 3200 new jobs and 500 new homes. The LEP has also used Growing Places Fund to unlock development in one of Hertfordshire’s key sectors: Film and Media.

Expanding Elstree Studios

A £1m loan was awarded to Hertsmere Borough Council to clear a backlot at Elstree Studios, allowing for expansion to attract major TV/film productions. This site was used for much of the filming of Netflix’s award-winning series The Crown, including the housing of Buckingham Palace.

Our strong track record of innovative collaboration with partners has helped develop Hertfordshire’s prosperity on an international scale. The Elstree Studios loan has created an additional 400 jobs in Hertfordshire and £2.6m of private sector investment.
